It goes without saying that Covid-19 has had a huge impact on all of our lives. Whether it is having to shield, having to home-school, cancelling holidays or perhaps getting used to working from home. We will never forget what happened during 2020.
Whilst there are some restrictions still in place, we are starting to see many parts of our lives go back to normal. Or should that be a new type of normal? To help to show you more about how things may look in the working world at least, here is what we believe the “new normal” will be like.
More remote working
One of the biggest things that will change after Covid-19 is that businesses will start to see the benefit of remote working. Remote working is not only beneficial for employees as it allows them to try their best to achieve the work/life balance, but it is also beneficial for the employer too. It saves money on the premises (as they can have smaller premises) and it also appeals to the talent that they may be trying to secure as it sets them apart from other businesses.
It shows how we can change the environment
We all know that there is plenty of talk about how we need to do more to save our environment, but even then, it doesn’t seem that this is enough of an incentive to actually make any changes. One of the biggest surprised that has come from the world being on lockdown is that there has been a positive impact on the environment, take for example, the water in the canals in Venice, which, for the first time in a long time, have been clear enough to see the wildlife that call them their home. Businesses around the UK have seen that there are things that we can all do to reduce pollution and we hope that this is something that is going to continue.
All workers are recognised
It has long been a problem that only those who are high up in a business are recognised as having value. However, with many of the workers that have held the UK together during lockdown coming from those roles that are not always recognised; things have changed. Those workers who are often overlooked, who are not seen as being key to the running of a business, well, now they are seen as having their own place at the table and they are recognised as being vital. Not only is this great for them, but it could have an impact on how many businesses actually treat their staff members from the top right down to the bottom.
We can’t say we know exactly how the world will look post Covid-19, but one thing that we can say is that things are going to be different. We have lots of work to do in order to raise the UK up as a whole, and every worker will play their part, however, we have faith that things will change and we will get back to where we want to be in the future,
